Apparently, SETI, the Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence, define an intelligent civilisation as one that does astronomy.
SETI is run by astronomers.

I don't trust that Prof Cox, he needs a haircut, and as others have said he grins all the time, reminds me of Edward scissor hands and never stops going on about the universe and stars.
